Hello everyone

I am think about to buy a Wide Angle for my Nikon D3400.

I have found many and there is three that their price is ok for me to pay, I know I get what I pay for but I can't pay more than 500 euros.
But the question is, Which one?
Have read some reviews but I havent decided yet.
So what you think? The options are:

Nikon AF-P DX NIKKOR 10-20mm f/4.5-5.6G VR
Tokina AT-X Pro 11-20/2,8 DX
Sigma 10-20mm F3.5 EX DC

1st I believe in getting more than I pay for. Meaning value to the point of net/net gain/loss, at the time of resale. I am not a Nikon shooter, but have friends that are. I would shoot Nikon if someone provided the gear.

I am an UWA shooter. I find it had to come up with a UWA lens.

I have found many that look at notch photography i.e. Macro, UWA etc.. tat requires specific gear and try it and then don't have the passion. This puts this gear on the secondary market and/or private sales.

The fly in the ointment on your question is I don't know your market. In USA we do have an over abundance of used goods at bargain pricing. Also look for supplier specials.

Well, the market for used stuff is quiet good here in Norway, small place so it is not so much fraud, I found those lense I wrote above used betwenn 2 and 4 years for -40/60%.

For what it’s worth, after doing research for a wide angle I ended up ordering the Nikon 10-20mm. It should be delivered tomorrow or Monday. It had great reviews for its price.

I had a friend buy the Toka Toy 11-16 2.8 @ 130 USD. I find if not in a hurry and will to haggle some great values. I have Canon APS-C & FF I found 10-22 EFs, 16-28 Tokina 2.8 and Korean 14 2.8. at about 10% of MSR.

Good luck with this. Each one on your list has positives and negatives. It’s difficult to compare these side by side on the computer. Dxo does not list all of them. Some of the lens reviewers have pretty large and up to date bases, and often times they will compare several comparable lenses. People will usually swear by the one they own so in the end you may not find your answer here. I would encourage you to put some time into more research and make lists based on your needs. F2.8 is for me unnecessarily on a wide angle. Stabilization is useful on any lens but less so on a wide angle. Myself, I like a constant aperture. I would pay attention to lens performance with regard to things like chromatic aboration. General corner sharpness away from the center at the kinds of settings you tend to use. The inability of the tokina to manually override autofocus would put me off. Might not bother someone else. Wides are fun. I go through fazes with them but they are more essential with a cropped sensor.

I understand what you are saying, thank you.

I agree with you, I don't need it to have f2,8 when I'll use after f9 and about the Tokina I'm think the same as you. About the VR, well the first I thought was that I don't need when I always use a tripod, but maybe would help against strong winds (?!) I really don't know, I'm new.

I will research a little bit more.

UWA is interesting. I do landscapes, so use a pod. Most makers recommend any IS, OS, VR to be off on static hold. I have the Canon 6D and most would agree that 2.8 is unnecessary, but I find that provides some creative opportunities.

For me I did a shop list and when a buying opportunity presented it's self, I did a planned spontaneous buy.

I bought a 19mm Sigma Art lens 20USD.

I used to have the Tokina 11-16 for Canon and I loved it!

We have the Sigma and are very happy with it. The flat field of focus is great, and the corner sharpness is excellent, especially stopped down one or two stops.
