Beautiful, Cany. We've camped along that road a number of times. Love it.

A very successful selection of a fantastic landscape Nimbushopper!
I think I would try to move the camera slightly to the left - in order to get the tree complete.
Lovely image!

Thanks, loose (and nimbus, too, of course...). And loose, you're absolutely right: Camping on the rim before the 4WD descent is the best way to 'see' it in all it's moods. I've opted for winter nights there when nobody's around.

I can't disagree, Paul. As you might imagine, I shot a number of shots in the immediate area; different compositions, different emphasis on near/far, etc. Was tempted by a couple of shots similar to the one here posted, ones that included all of the tree or less of the tree, but for one reason or another none seemed to satisfy me, even though I wouldn't be able to cite a concrete reason why. Ah, well. Ya pays your nickel and ya takes your chances.

Thanks so much, Chief (CPO)! And James: Yeah, I feel that way too, most of the time. Except around now, when it would be a little more blessed-er if somebody'd turn the stinkin' heat down a notch or ten.
