I am fortunate to have a D500 for my prime camera. As a backup I kept the D7200. When the D7200 is on the shelf, should I remove the battery or does it matter.

Remove the batter is recommended if it's going to be a while but 7xxx seem to be forgiving with the en-el15

My cameras don't get out often enough. I check the batteries every couple of weeks.
If I KNOW it will be months, I remove them.

Find someone who can read and have them tell you what your user's manual recommends.

Recommends, but I don't necessarily follow it, probably others do not as well.
Mine stay in the camera in anticipation of using the camera in the near future, but that always doesn't work out.
That's why I check them all every couple of weeks.

Sure didn't want to insinuate that someone cannot do their own thinking.

Bobnewnan, good to see you had two sincere responses prior to the troll stopping by to piss on you. I remove my batteries because it's just as easy to do that as to leave them in. btw, if you happen to buy batteries that only come in flimsy boxes, a "snack" size plastic zip bag from the grocery store works great for temporary storage.

Re the Leitzes of the forum, the first thing I do when I encounter such nonsense is to check their history and yep, usually they're nasty to everyone. Can you imagine how miserable their real lives must be?

Hey, the Ass/donkey is a faithful animal that has given mankind centuries of work and service.

I think the second part of the word is missing.

Well, after 81 years I've learned to ignore those that don't have anything to say. I didn't say it but I'm referring to the Nikon batteries in the camera. I've read the manual and as someone said, lots of things are recommendations so sometime I follow other times I do what I've learned works better for me.
