Focus Experiments with Paper Flower

These three images were all taken with a Nikon D850 using a Sigma 105mm, f/2.8 macro lens. The tint is due to the artificial lighting I was using to achieve more warmth. I tried one in black and white as well to get closer to the actual color of the artificial flower. I'm curious what you all find the most pleasing?

I prefer the b/w rendition. Because the object is an artificial flower, the b/w abstraction seems to fit it better. The shallow focus version is too muddy.

I like the B&W but I think I prefer the almost colorless one. Maybe tweak the contrast and tones a little.

I liked the second one best, then the first and, finally, the third one. The third one, b&w, looks washed out to me; the first one really pops but isn't quite my style. The second one wins with the warmth and "please touch me" appearance draws me in the most.

Thank you. It was an interesting exercise. I did it mostly to test the new lens. I appreciate your critique.

I'm kind of leaning with you. I like the detail and the tone the better. I can beef up the contrast and tones a little and see how it looks. Thank you for taking the time to comment.

My wife got a chuckle out of your "please touch me" comment. I'm with you. I like the second one the best. Thank you.

Thanks Fran, the consensus seems to be that #2 is the best, maybe with a few additional tweaks. I appreciate your comment "Cool idea."
