I like #1 where the size of the two turtles can be compared.

Nice, I tried to save a snapper that was trying to cross a busy road but it kept snapping at me and I wasn't about to try and pick it up. I eventually gave up and hoped for the best. On my return trip, I saw it's carcass on the side of the road. I have saved other turtles in the past though. Oh, it was a pretty large one too, an alligator snapper.

Been there too. I hold them up by the base of the tail and by one hind leg, holding them out away from my body. They can lunge to bite, but they can't quite reach that way (all 10 fingers crossed).

That's a biggun! I'd keep my arms, hands, legs, and feet inside the boat.

The shot of him/her looking dead on is great, the expression is inviting, but it's not fooling anyone!

What a handsome brute! What lake is this? Growing up, I spent a lot of time on a small pond off Rte 9 near Aurora (east of Bangor). There was one snapping turtle that earned a good living picking off ducklings

I got chased by one once when trying to do the same thing.

Ditto! Saw a video a while back on you-tube where a very large snapper convinced a 10' + alligator to get lost by taking a large chunk (bite) out of it's tail. The wounded alligator swam away very quickly.

This is actually the largest of 3 lakes (the other 2 are more pond size) at the back of Evergreen Cemetery in South Portland, Maine. The birds & animals are
quite used to strollers, joggers, photographers etc. so they take them in their stride.
