For some/many this is a fine image - as for myself it does not represent a natural image that one would see in person - as I do and have all my life here in the mountains of Western USA. This slow shutter speed turns portions of a photo into a "painting". Once again I wonder why a photographer would put so much effort in getting rest of the image so precisely focused and then mess up the stream.

Because, oh purist, it looks really nice and demonstrates that the Photographer understands how to get the best out of his/her camera and lens. You try handholding at 1/4 or 1/8th a sec and not get any blur.

Oh - I know I am picky about the blur of moving water but to me it adds "painting" to a photograph - but that is what I get from living near so many wonderful streams of clear water - not "milk".
As for hand holding slow shutter speed or even 99% of my "special" images - it is always Tripod time. It is only recently that I acquired a lens with IS but my tripod will never gather dust.

Oh I am well aware of Mr. Rangefinder taking a shot at my posts - I respect his words as he does know of what he speaks - I just happen to have different view on some things as he does .

Like your capture a lot. Hope Harvey got your permission before he hijacked your post,
even if it was a nice shot.

This is why we consider Photography and "art form" and not just a mechanical capture of images...

Very nice image. I have a 10-stop Hoya but don't get a chance to use it much around here. I'm hoping this summer to find a wheat field on a windy day to get some 30+ seconds exposures. I'm really not that excited about "field guide" images.
