We got out of town for a couple of days, going to one of our favorite spots/areas (Fish Lake, Leavenworth, WA and backroads/hills in the surrounding area). We had some beautiful days and always see some wonderful scenery. Here's just a few of the pictures I took. Anybody have a favorite? Love to know why (helps me learn what to look/plan for in my photos). I may submit a few more after I play with the different exposures I took.

I like them all. Maybe the last one a bit more than the others.

Very nice work! Hard to pick a favorite. #1 has a nice "frame", but #2 presents the same thing using the rule of thirds.

Excellent, well exposed landscapes. My preference is for the last two. In #1, the two trees feel like they are blocking the view rather than framing it. In #2 my eye is drawn to the horizontal line of trees. I don’t know how to describe it except it feels flat. I do really like the reflection though! 3 & 4, for me, are excellent compositions. In 3, the mountain is beautifully framed. The darker trees on each side and the overhanging branch make me feel like I am standing at the edge of woods looking out to a brightly lit landscape. It has a lot of depth. The curving shoreline in #4 pulls me into a gorgeous landscape. The distant mountains have a balanced feel with the valley between pulling me further into the scene. Again, great depth!

The first two are still very nice shots but they don’t have the same impact for me that the other two do.

One of my favorite places to go is Mt. Ranier. There are two places to go to: Paradise and Sunrise areas. They both have beautiful views and a lot of activities to do. this photo was taken at Reflection Lake with Mt. Ranier in the background.

There are at least two Fish Lakes in WA. This is the one close to Lake Wenatchee and yes, off of Highway 2. I think there is a Fish Lake up in the Salmon La Sac area, up past Roslyn too. I'm thinking there are probably others as well. Sounds like you know the area. The Mt. Index picture was taken at the Espresso Chalet heading east, just past Index. We always stop and get a latte there on our way over the pass and very often take a picture.

Yes, you can't beat the Mr. Rainier area. Let's face it, WA is beautiful just about everywhere.

Thanks so much for your comments. It's interesting to get people's feelings about pictures. Your comments were very helpful and as I look at #4, I can see what you are talking about (I'm drawn away and into the mountains (depth I guess you talk about). I hadn't thought about that before. Again, thanks for your thoughts and time. Appreciate it.
