Does anyone out there have a Sigma 150-600 Contemporary Lens that they use on a Canon 80 D , and if so could you tell me how they match up as far as fast focus , clarity and sharpness, and maybe what settings you use for wildlife.

"Questions" are what just about everyone asks.
Please be more specific about your title.
Something like, oh, maybe "Users of Sigma 150-600 Contemporary Lens" might be more appropriate.
I guarantee you'll get more responses from people who have this lens who may be inclined to skip over the minimalist title.

From the Rules Section:
"Try to use descriptive titles when creating new topics. Instead of something like "Please Help", write a title that briefly states the nature of your post. That way, people who know the answer or are interested in that particular topic would be more likely to click on it to read it and post replies."

I do. It is a great combination overall. However, I have been switching to a 70-200 2.8 with a 2x extender. It is more versatile in my bag and I do not have the opportunity to do a lot of BIF. In my other action work, I find I am not shooting over 400mm anyway. But I do find the lens quite sharp and responsive when I do use it.

"Questions" are what just about everyone... (show quote)

In addition, if you ever want to search for a post, the search engine only searches in "title". So to find this post you would have to search on the word "question", not lens, not Sigma.

While I'm at it - If you want advice about shooting at a place you will be going to visit. Don't just put the name of the place in the title. Most people will think you are posting images of that place.
Use something like "Need advice for trip to Albuquerque" NOT just "Albuquerque".

As to setting for wildlife, it depends on the wild life. Are we talking bears and elk or BIF?

All northern wildlife , mostly moving , need to shoot fast and be focused, just general settings, i know it will always change but so I can get a good idea what to use basically.

This lens comes with two custom AF settings. You would need the Sigma USB Hub to set them. This allows you to choose focus limits that reduce focus hunting to set ranges. This could be very useful in switching between settings for BIF and for closer land animals or birds in the brush.

I realize its not the specific lens you are asking about but I have an older sigma 170-500 and the sharpness is remarkable even at 500. The reviews I have seen of the 150-600 comtemporary have all rated the lens as good or better. Used on a 70D and a 5DII. To be certain, consider renting and make sure you are getting what you want.
