I had my 600mm f/4 and a 1.4X TC set up in hopes of photographing a deer. I settled for a mangy groundhog.

Some times I'll see deer in groups as large a six, walking down this trail. Then I wind the window open and fall all over myself getting to the camera.

Well, at least you made a nice shot of the groundhog. It may not be a nice shot of a deer, but you did get a nice shot. And a little more practice with the equipment.
