Tilly's Mom

I subscribed a while back but have been lurking in the shadows reading and learning. Photography is relatively new to me and I am learning by reading and trial and error...mostly error. I started with a Canon PowerShot SX50 HS two years ago and now am using a Canon Rebel T6s with an EF 70-300mm 1:4-5.6 L IS lens. Actually I use both cameras when I get in my car and drive for hours to capture nature. That is my preference...nature shots, mostly birds. I've learned quite a bit by reading the answers to the questions posted and enjoy looking at the photos posted. I only have been doing jpeg as I know nothing about the post processing that goes on other than how to crop. I use the app on my iMac...'Photos' only. I am not very proficient with the mysteries of processing.
In my other life I was an RN, Horticulturist, and an avid cat rescuer. My moniker...'Tilly's Mom' is for the abused kitten I found biking and her photo is my avatar.
My hobbies ...biking, quilting, gardening, cross-stitching.
I welcome all comments...especially when I post photos.
This photo I took 3-16-18 of a ShortEar Owl.

Welcome to the UHH. That is one great shot of a shorty in flight. I only saw my first one last weekend and did manage 2 decent flight shots. They are somewhere in the 700 or so shots I took that morning. You put a smile on my face when you said you aren’t very proficient with the mysteries of provessing. Sounds just like me. I shoot jpeg and the only processing I do is whatever my iPad allows - usually just some cropping.

You will learn lots here. I know I did, and continue to do so.

Again - WELCOME!and enjoy!

Welcome Tilly's Mom. Thanks for coming out and posting your first image. I love nature also. You are special to rescue cats. In my life I rescued 6 and found homes for them. Your image of the Short Ear Owl is outstanding.

good start

My wife uses a SX-50 I got for her, but she is just casual and uses it for a lot of video of our younger son in Special Olympics.
