When the news strikes home

Here the local news has been about coyote's sneaking up on kids entering school. One child was bitten last week and others have reported problems. It's on the news so all are aware. When I glanced out my window this morning and observed a coyote stalking a group of ducks I of course grabbed my camera and headed out. Now one of the problems with Canon's 5DSR is the shutter in quite mode is louder than a fart in church. I had a scare about a month ago when out after mounting lions, and again today.....

I am thinking of getting a tripod and using a remote shutter so I can have a bit of a head start.

He (???) turned as soon as I clicked the shutter

Nice photos.

But, I'm surprised that anyone who is out "mounting lions", hopefully female, shouldn't be afraid of something like a coyote.

Two thoughts:

1) Coyotes in Hemet are fast little buggers.
2) What do you call a Photographer who is out shooting Mountain Lions in the wild? Lunch.

I have a cure for aggressive animals, A friend, O.F.Mossberg works every time, But I do live in a rural area.
All kidding aside, Coyotes can be a problem and worse are Coy dogs that have no fear of humans.

Wow, a couple of good shots! These guys usually aren’t alone like this and they usually take off like rabbits. This one must have lost his pack or it is sick. When I lived in Simi those rascals only came down at night, or very early in the morning to try and get a little lamb. Of course they were chased off via shot gun.

And all I have ever gotten, Pesfls, is very grainy, grayed-out, shots of "ya that might be a lion" Remember "always be with a friend, and never be the slow friend"
lol

Chevman, my son moved from Lake Elsinore to N.C. Wilmington area & I still don't know why....
I was wondering about rabies when he started my way, so I tossed a pine cone his way and he turned back to the ducks. I guess he wanted Duck more than chicken.

You are right, except in my observation, if a cougar wants you, you are toast. I've never seen one with a camera on me, only hunting deer or elk with a rifle or bow. I've concluded back off slowly no matter what & hope for the best. They're aware of you long before you are of them. Their agility and speed, if you ever get to see it is almost beyond imagination. Fun, creepy stuff.

I wouldn't want to see Coyotes near my home...they can do some damage to you.
