Sony Adapter

Hi all. I'm afraid I did a bu bu. I bought a LA-EA 3 Sony adapter to use with my A6000 camera. I've been informed that I should have bought the LA-EA2 or 4 instead, and that the EA3 will be useless for what I want to do.
My idea was to buy Sony A lenses (much chipper) for my camera, or the Tamron Di II A mount. I also considered some Canon glass.
My question ; Is the "expert" right? And if so, do you know of any place where I can trade the adapter? Any other solution will be welcome, of course.
Thank you in advance

I have used the LEA3 and LEA4 adapters. The difference is that the LEA4 has a built-in translucent mirror and will do auto focus with older mechanical auto focus Sony and Minolta lenses (screw drive) , like the A-mount cameras. The LEA3 does not have a built in translucent mirror but uses the camera auto focus capabilities with lenses with built- in autofocus motors like the newer Sony lenses. These lenses can also be used, of course with the LEA4, but the autofocus on lenses with building autofocus motors will be better and faster with the LEA3.

I regularly use both the LEA3 and LEA4 on different lenses and its nice to be able to keep them on a lens rather than changing them every time you want to use a lens. This does get more expensive, though, I have bought mine as good used ones at pretty good prices.

Thank you. The lens I want to buy are "old" A mount Sony or for Sony. The one I really, really want is the Tamron 18/200 Di II A frame. Will it work with the adapter? and is there somewhere a list of lenses that can be used with the LEA3 adapter? I want to retain the AF capability because of my developing cataracts....

If that lens is a screw - drive focussed, you would need the LEA4 to autofocus on your camera. I suspect you would need an LEA4 for autofocus on it. Here is a link you might check out: https://esupport.sony.com/US/p/model-home.pl?mdl=LAEA3

The LA-EA3 autofocus only works with lenses that have SAM or SSM motors.

I have both EA3 and EA4 adaptors. My experience suggest that the EA3 works with Sony DT lenses and the EA4 works the FF lenses. both adaptors work well and I don't notice any difference between using adapted AF A-mount lenses and the native E-mount lenses. One my favorite uses is the EA3 with the Sony DT 1.8 35mm at aqauriums.
