Looks like a pretty common equipment setup to me for certain types of shooting... Other than most would use a solid tripod perhaps instead of a stock.

Actually a great idea. Those lenses are so heavy and hand held almost impossible to steady, specially at higher zoom range & slower shutter speeds, so this looks like a great device to accomplish this...a monopod might work just as well though all be it more clumsy.

Definitely not something to walk around Hollywood with. Some backwoods location perhaps.

I agree, but common sense and government don't mix. Guns and drugs are treated the same, if you can't control those that have a problem you go after the ones that don't. It's easier for them.

The first time I saw this I also thought it would work good. But in todays paranoia environment I would be very hesitant
to use this kind of set up around any people, or where anyony might see me unless in an area where game hunting is common.

Well move to Washington State where "Pot" is legal but guns are another story. Guns and drugs are not treated the same here as is the same story in several other states. Go figure.

You'd probably get shot before you ever got a shot off yourself!

Looks like an 800mm lens judging from the lens shade alone. Yes, it'll be steadier but how long can you hold it without setting it down on the ground?

I can see using it for single shot mode, but anything above 4 frames per second should be banned.
