Very nice! Like other birds in the crow family, they can be annoying because they are so smart.
If your camera has an Exposure Compensation option; try +1 or maybe +2. This should bring out detail in the totally black areas w/o lousing up the rest of the bird.

Great shots, love these birds! When I lived in California, we saw many yellow billed magpies. In Colorado, they have the larger, black billed magpies. They look awesome in flight as well.

I think the Magpie is a very beautiful bird. Their range is not near me I have to drive over a thousand miles to see them.
Why don't people like them, Jim?
