Lightroom Slideshow Module Not Working!

All of a sudden today the lightroom module for Slideshow is non functional. I can set all of the parameters, select photos, etc. but when I select "play", nothing happens! No filters applied. This is the first time this has happened, I rarely use slideshow, but in the past play got things underway every time. Any suggestions as to what might be the cause? (I did restart LR without benefit).

I've not had this issue, but seldom use the Slideshow module. Did "Preview" work? Just to check your work, Adobe provides the following as a step by step guide -

I agree that it should work. And, it is terribly frustrating when something that worked before does not work now. If you don't find answers here, there is an active group of very skilled users at an Adobe sponsored user forum here: https://forums.adobe.com/community/lightroom/lightroom-classic-cc

No preview did not work. The button appears active for preview and play but nothing happens. All other buttons work as they should.

Just an update...one half hour on phone with Adobe and they were unable to correct the problem..senior tech advisor to call me Monday and have a go at it.
