I currently shoot with a canon T3i. And I’m looking to upgrade. I mainly shoot wildlife, birds, ducks and landscapes.
I like that the 80 d has an 24.2 sensor while the Canon 7d Mikita has a 20 amp. But the 7d shoots 10 FPS and the 80 d shots 7 FPS. They’re both CMOS.
I Could get a new 80d.

Opinions welcome

Unless you NEED 10 FPS, I recommend the 80D. It has a later sensor, articulated touch screen, is lighter weight, has more dynamic range, better low light sensitivity, Wi-Fi, and Dual Pixel Auto Focus for dramatically better Live View and video focusing.

By the way, the 80D is less expensive.

The 80D should be just fine, I was using a 6D and 7DII but traded and now use 5DIV and 80D. I do miss the other cameras because I had years of experience with them and am now learning some things all over again.
The 80D isn't as fast, doesn't have as many AF options and has fewer on body controls - you have to go into menus for some things - but you can set them on one of the C(ustom) settings on the mode dial and just select them when wanted. I swapped to get the newer sensor and the 27 f/8 AF points (only one on 7DII).

If you don't need the extra 3 fps or the built like a tank body then the 80D will be fine.

My ideal bird camera would be a blend of the two. Maybe when the 7DIII comes out I will swap again. Or save my money and get one of the faster really long tele lenses for my 5DIV. My go to birding lenses now is the 100-400L mk 2 with/without the 1.4III extender.

I have both the 7D II and the 80D and I use my 80D far more often than the 7D II. If the 10 fps is the main reason for you to get the 7D II, forget about it. You will do just fine with 7 fps. The 7D II is a nice camera but it's getting a bit long on the tooth. For the money, seriously consider a factory refurbished 80D. Good as new, same warranty as new, quite a bit less expensive.
I've bought 2 factory refurbs and 1 brand new 80D and there was absolutely no difference between them.
You could also wait for the 7D III to come out.

CMOS, of course, there have not been any CCD Sensors for a few years now. I think my Pentax K-100D (6.1MP) is a CCD. The camera is now converted for Infrared use. You have a number of Canon choices!

Here's a link to a brief comparison: http://cameradecision.com/compare/Canon-EOS-7D-Mark-II-vs-Canon-EOS-80D

They're currently about the same price. I've been very happy with my 7d Mark II, but, as several people have noted, there are trade-offs to be considered.

You don't indicate the lenses you will be using. I'll try to put this in a nutshell. They are both great cameras. The newer 80D has 45 focus points and fewer AF modes than the 7D II which has 65 focus points. The 80D is a bit smaller and might fit better in your hands. The body is polycarbonate plastic compared to the more professional build of the 7D II with a magnesium alloy body. The 80D has a swivel touch screen which can be very useful, the 7D2 does not. The 7D Mark II has professional features like the joy stick which the 80D does not. If you decide to use a teleconverter with a slow lens which in combination will bring the maximum aperture to f/8, the 7D Mark II only supports the center focus point where the newer 80D supports up to 27 focus points. Unless you need the more professional and more robust build of the 7D Mark II, I think the 80D wil meet your needs better.

Just one correction, the 7D Mark II also has Dual Pixel AF in Live View. It was the second camera to get it, after the 70D where the technology debuted.

From what I can tell, if bought new with factory warranty the 7D MK II is $1,499, the 80D is $1,099.

You are correct that the 80D is cheaper, although I see different prices than you noted. Here's what I'm seeing on Amazon right now:

7D Mark II body: $1,039 to $1070

80D Body: $859-$1,099.

I think he was referring to prices from authorized dealers with Canon USA warranties. The cheaper Amazon prices are mostly, if not completely, grey market with no Canon USA warranties.

Sure, and for refurbs from Canon the price difference is still substantial, 899 vs 1299. A few days ago the 80D was 799, but that deal has ended. It will come back. Canon refurbs come with the same warranty as new, 12 months.

Thanks for the input. That link made my decision. RobertJerl mentioned the 80d has fewer on body controls, such as.
Again, everyone thanks for the input. I’ll be purchasing the 80 d.

I have a T3i and now also the 80D. I think that you'll be happy with the 80D. I got mine as a refurb and am very happy.

Yep. Canon gives better warranties with their refurbs these days than they did a few years back.
