This one's as likely to have as many different answers, as there are - interpretations ....

It's where there is no circle of confusion, and all becomes clear.

As far as one's eyes can see.

As far as the lens can view that remains in focus, not the photographer.

Chris, perhaps you should ask Buzz Lightyear?

Infinity is figure 8 lying on its side.

If you added jillions of miles to infinite distance, it would not increase whatsoever.

With respect to photography of earthbound items/creatures, "infinity" merely extends to the horizon -- roughly 12 to 20 miles on a clear day -- which depends primarily upon the camera's elevation relative to the curvature of the planet.

As an aside, "eternity" is NOT infinite time. It is the absence of time.

So there I go again... you ask me what time it is and I tell you how to make a clock. πŸ˜‰

Infinity is figure 8 lying on its side. br br If ... (show quote)

Okay, so what time is it, Bell ? ..... jk!!!!

20 miles, on a clear day, huh? .... That's a pretty succinct answer ... thanks, Bell ...

So, if you only get 12 miles, then, it's because your camera's elevation is not quite high enough, relevant to the earth's curvature??? ... okay ....

Okay, LF ... so, it's ONLY Infinity ... if the lens is in focus ... and, it's not Infinity, if the lens isn't in focus, then ....

I like that definition, Mas ... it has a certain unqualified ring to it ...

Infinity is an estimate of the number of topics Chris T is likely to this year.
