Classic is supposed to run faster, has some new collection tricks and can filter for edited vs un-edited.

The server/cloud/mobile version for computers allows you to add copyright status to the metadata. The Android version has some interesting new tools and ways to add photos.

Only the improved speed comes with 12 MB of RAM. The speed improvement is not needed if you are OK with how it runs now. The other features have nothing to do with needing 12 or more MB of RAM.
