Brent .., nice shots .., glad you like your new lens ..I remember a while back you dropped a lens and had stated you wanted to buy a new one . you had boworred your sisters lens for a while but like the 100-400 L II so much better .. it’s working well for you .., can you enlighten me again as to your camera that new lens is mated to ...

Dr.Nikon, Yes, a while back I dropped my 24-105 lens and bought a used replacement right away. That drop ended up costing me $400 for the refurb lens. I never borrowed my sister's lens......you might be thinking of someone else but not me. I know Dr.Nikon that you must be a Nikon kind of guy so I hope you are not mad at me for telling you that with the 100-400 L II Canon lens I use the Canon 6D body. I know Canon and Nikon shooters often have different thoughts on which is the better camera. Personally, I have lots of Canon and Nikon friends and respect BOTH brands and know that BOTH are excellent cameras and lenses. That of course is not to say that Sony, Hasselblad, Fujifilm and a host of others are not great cameras too. The 100-400 L II Canon lens is an amazing lens. It was expensive, but I can tell that it will be worth the $$$ by the pleasure I will receive from it. The 100-400 L II Canon lens is replacing my Tamron 150-600 lens which was a very good lens at a very good price.

Just amazing photos......I am jealous!

phv, don't be jealous! Get out there and start shooting your own specialty whatever that may be. I do hope that my photos can inspire my UHH friends to make the effort it takes to improve their own photographs.

While testing out my new telephoto lens I got lucky and at the Huntington Beach Pier they were having a USA Surfing contest going on. The waves were less than perfect but the surfers are all very talented and made up for the poor conditions.

Brent: Beautiful set... Such action your photos let me feel like I am doing the surfing and that is as close to Surfing I will ever do.... Great action and Great shots!!!!

That's how I do it also. And I really like what you do.

AzPicLady, there should be no difference from my shots at 1/1000th of a sec than yours! They should be equal!
Thanks AzPicLady for saying you like what I do!

WOW! Brent. Another great set. Most that have chosen a favorite have picked #9 but I am partial to #8. #2 would be my next choice. Now I can't wait to get down to Cocoa to see what I can capture. That new lens seems to be working nicely.

Another great set, especially like 7 for the spray and composition. Congrats on your new lens. Question? How do you stabilize your camera and which way do you like or use the most? tripod, monopod, pier railing, hand held or? Would be most interested in your reply. Keep shooting those great shots.

it is a 100-400 L version II Canon. I love this new lens.
Thanks Merlin for saying I am unrivaled at surfer photos.......you make me happy! lol

I got this lens about 8-9 months ago and love it too. All of my friends that had the 150-600mm Tamrons have switched over to the Canon 100-400 Mark II. It is such a sharp lens. I had the older 100-400 a few years ago and the new Mark II puts it to shame.
