Um, isn’t that just for 4K video mode.

Nope you pull stills from it at that rate. Study the manual again.

Recent release.......
In an interview with C-SPAN's Brian Lamb, New York Times photographer Doug Mills talks about his career photographing the inner workings of the U.S. government. During the interview Mills describes a particularly unique photo taken in the White House and how he took it using the Sony α9. Mills describes how the camera is giving him an edge in the rough-and-tumble, highly-competitive world of political photojournalism.

"I'm using a Sony camera which is completely silent. So, I can be sitting, standing next to my colleagues and they hear me, you know, formerly they could hear me taking pictures, but now, they can't hear. They're completely silent."

And...

"It came on the market earlier in the year and I've been using it now in 2017. I've been using it now probably about eight months. And I was asked to try them out to see what I thought. I've been a Canon photographer for 30 years, 35 years, I mean more than that, probably, my first camera was a Canon and they don't make a mirrorless camera. And so, Sony came to me and asked me if I would be willing to try it and to see what I thought. And I picked it up and I played with it for a few hours. And I remember saying to one of the technicians, this is a game changer. I want to use this camera."

Just saying.....
Recent release....... br In an interview with C-SP... (show quote)

The Sony a9 does look like a game changer directly challenging Canon and Nikon. This is very good to get them off the dime or settle for a smaller markets share to extinction like Minolta.

Not at full res...video size is 4096 x 2160 and not in raw...it's a screen grab. No thanks...I'd take my chances with the 24mp RAW @ 20FPS with 693 af points. Or use my em1ii if I need more speed or if I needed the Pro Capture features to nail the shot exactly.

To be absolutely frank about it, since I am neither a pro or even a serious amateur, such a camera as the A9, or similar, would simply, for me, be about bragging rights, and since I’m not into that, it’s not even a remote consideration. What I do like is that Sony and Panasonic are stretching the box now, and even Olympus with the OMD-EM1ii. I suspect there may be more to come.

I heard Panasonic now has an 8k sensor with amazing DR. How long do you think Canon will take to get there? Probably at least 5 years, if ever.

Are you talking Canon Mirrorless or Canon DSLR?

Poor comparison compare 1DX MII which can capture at up to 60FPS.

The 1DX MII can capture full RAW images at 60FPS? I didn't think the mirror could move that fast. I thought the 1DX MII was limited to 15 FPS full RAW images because of the mirror. If it can only do 60FPS with the mirror locked up, how does one shoot without a viewfinder? Holding a camera out 18" to view the rear screen cannot be a very stable way to shoot especially in bright sunlight.

Live view at 4K.
Read the manual.

Not true at all. A 42 Mp image out of a Sony A7RIII is just as high quality as the 45 Mp image out of a Nikon D810. Mirrorless fanboys will argue that there is less chance of camera shake with that supersonic mirror slapping up in a DSLR, of that Mirrorless cameras are smaller, etc.

It is the Photographer behind the viewfinder that makes the shot.

Always has been true, always will be!
