Hi everyone! Newbie here. Retired school teacher after 36 years was done in, originally from Louisville Kentucky, we moved here last summer. Loving the winter here! Recently picked up a new camera to replace the very old one I used to take pictures over the years of everything. Now I am serious about photography and am taking some classes at a local art center and have joined a local camera club. Have been busily checking out scenery and wildlife in this great state and now want to move from taking pictures to creating photographs, hopefully to move into fine art photography. Very expensive hobby so far.
I have been lurking, looking and reading for about two months so now I am subscribed and look forward to sharing some of my photos and getting helpful feedback.

I have a Canon T6i which was an upgrade for me from my first Canon Rebel from years ago! I also purchased a Canon 24 mm lens, a Canon 50 mm lens, and of course the 2 lenses that came with the camera. Recently I added a Tamon 150-600mm lens to my gear. I added a benro travel angel tripod with ball head when I realized that the big lens was too much for my other tripod I already had Tamron set of 3 screw on lens filters(?) caps to use for macro shots from my first Canon Rebel. I do still have my first Rebel. I still have my speedlite from earlier and it is good with my current camera. I know I am missing something but this is what I have.

I start taking classes with the Englewood art Center tomorrow (affiliates of the Ringling Art College) to help me get a better handle on it all so I can move from mostly auto mode to more me controlling the camera. In 10 weeks I hope I have a better handle on my camera and gear!

I live in Englewood ( just south of Venice and Sarasota County)

Welcome! I’m new to Florida living too. We came down to sunny FL from the cold suburbs of Chicago.
Just a heads up on photography in Florida. I have learned that unbelievably my friends and family up north do not want to see every photo I take of a palm tree.🌴 😎
Go figure?
