An exercise in PP

I shot this image while waiting for an appointment in a large hospital. Did my best on a relatively quick PP. Now, how did I do? What can I do better? Using PSE15, LR 6.

Do the colorful posters add to the story? For me it's all about the play of light and real or apparent textures in the vase. So my own story would be to desaturate the colors behind it
