I am looking for a nikon AW 100, 110, or 130 waterproof camera for a one time rafting trip in Big Bend NP. I am on retirement so am looking for best possible deal. Refurbished or used (reliable), as camera will get limited use. Appreciate any info.
Thanks,
whatdat, forum name.

Whatdat, I understand your choice of the Nikon AW models, but don’t overlook the cost/benefit advantages of AW choices available from Olympus and Fujifilm. Fuji just released an affordable AW camera known as the XP130.

Here is a writeup on the XP130 from DPReview:

Good shooting with whatever you choose. /Ralph

Why not rent one? Lensrentals.com, borrowlenses.com and probably others. Your outlay is probably less than $100 for a week's use.

In actual response to your question, I’ve owned an AW100 for many years. Nice viewing screen, plenty of megapixels for cropping, nice size (not too small like a little Sony I own) and rugged. Not thrilled with the ergometrics (e.g., telephoto button) but I probably have not used it enough for really good familiarity.
I remember a rafting trip in WVA in which I slid into the water in mild rapids on my back believing I would get some neat shots but ended up with sky and water. Bad idea.

Are you interested in a refurbish Nikon Coolpix S33? I bought it from Nikon and never used it, still in the box. Includes charger and SD card. $55 shipped.
The Nikon Coolpix S33 Digital Camera is designed to withstand whatever you throw at it. Oversized buttons and easy menus mean everyone can have a turn taking photos and Full HD 1080p videos. Features 13.2MP CMOS sensor and 3x Zoom-NIKKOR Glass Lens.

PM if interested.
