Lots of talk, lately, about film coming back ... and so many have also indicated they miss Kodachrome. But, Ektachrome is still around ... so who here still soups it?

Oh, okay, Pablo ....

No Ilford stuff for you, then, huh?

And, I'll bet they have a plant just up the street from you, too ....

Never did like that stuff, LF ....

Whenever I looked at it ... I could swear I could see the Ox's tail still moving, in the ripples ....

I use Ilford B&W film (FP3 / FP4 ) in preference to Kodak Plus X. But prefer Kodak / Fuji to Ilford, for colour slide film. I would have to travel 10 miles to collect chemistry, or perhaps order from Internet.

All of ten miles, huh, Pablo?

Nothing in a car ... but, perhaps, by bicycle - a bit of a haul ...

What have you got against English-made color film chemistry, Pablo?

Is there a vibrancy problem, do you think?

Although Fujichrome stocks are still around, Ektachrome isn't quite here yet:

Fujichrome uses the same E6 compatible process. Fuji-Hunt 6X compatible chemistry is available from larger mail order and Internet sources.

I haven't developed E6 films since the 1980s. I used to run 20 to 60 rolls a week sometimes when I was an AV producer. I don't miss that noxious stuff!

So, it's between Kodak and Fuji, huh? ...

Although Fujichrome stocks are still around, Ektac... (show quote)

Noxious, huh? ... Well, if you mix it in a good clean darkroom, with an exhaust fan going all the time, that's really not a problem, Bill .... sorry it bothered you!!!

I believe Ilford manufactures only black and white film.

I thought they did (and B/W papers, too)

But, it'd occurred to me they might well have expanded into color since I was last in England, but - I guess not, huh, Bob?

Chris, if they did, it must be private stock and not released to the public.

Ektachrome has been discontinued for a number of years now. There is talk about bringing it back sometime this year. Right now Fujichrome is the only option. I tried to soup E6 myself back in the 80's but found it's cheaper and better. to bring it to a local lab and pick it up in an hour or so. Although I had a darkroom I don't even soup the C41. I had the lab process the film then I made print and process the print only. It's hard to beat the consitency and economy of a machine running high volume processing. For the same reason it's hard to get good quality processing from a minilab now aday They simply don't have sufficient quantity to have a stable process. I used to process 100 rolls a day running the lab. Today I asked some of them they couldn't even make 10.
