I was looking for a L plate for my Canon 60D, 80D and 6D Mark II that could accommodate a battery grip, but couldn't find any. Was wondering if anyone know of such a plate?

Really Right Stuff has very high quality plates, but they are not inexpensive and no one plate is designed to fit each of the cameras you mentioned in your post. RRS precision designs plates to fit specific cameras, and they do it very well. Many do not accomodate battery grips, you may have to choose berween the battery grip and the convenience of a plate. See Fuji X100F example attached.

Kirk makes these. They are made in Indiana. I got one for my EOS 7d Mark ll. Works good and my camera has a battery pack. Make sure you specify that your camera(s) have a batttery pack. Nice looking, excellent work.
Kirk is easy to find on the web. Wouldn't trade mine.

Here's a cool trick for many different products:

Google "l plate for canon 60d" So many different choices and vendors. You'll start seeing a few key players and eventually go right to their sites. Many on the forum use B&H, Adorama, Cameta, Really Right Stuff(available through B&H), Keh and several others.

You can often find good prices on used plates on eBay if you are willing to search and watch... Some of the RRS plates are one piece and some are two piece. The ones I use on my cameras happen to be two piece models.

Best,
Todd Ferguson

I know there are many plates out there, but I am looking for one to use with a battery grip. Spoke with RRS and they don't make any L plates for use with a grip.

That is an incorrect statement. They do have l plates that will accommodate many cameras with a grip. Some require a two piece configuration some are available as one piece. I suggest you go to the Really Right Stuff website. I just did a quick check and saw your 6d mk II.

I can't find them on their site, could you put up a link? I am of course referring to the OP's needs.

The two piece configurations are to remove the vertical side.

I had a 7D with battery grip and got the L plate from RRS - really expensive. I now have the 80D and no battery grip on this camera - got a cheap knock off from Adorama and saved some $$$ over RRS. Works nicely with the RRS ball head.

I called them up and the customer service rep said they did not make a L plate for those cameras with a battery grip

I would verify with RRS before I took the word of someone claiming it properly fits.

You can do that and it is a good idea... That said I use the same base plate as my 1dX MkII on my 1D MkIII and it fits fine. Manufacturers don't always change the basic underlying frame geometry of the camera bodies. I like the newer plate because it has the hole to attach the Military style Quick Release which RRS also offers. I can also use the L section on both bodies by using one screw and about 10 seconds of time. Or I can by a second section for both if desired. The thing where the side pieces can be different is in clearing the port access locations from body to body in the same series of cameras.

Best,
Todd Ferguson
