I'm thinking of buying a Nikkor 10.5mm f/2.8 G DX lens to be used with my D7200 for underwater but I'll probably get lots of use on land too. Any one have any comments or suggestions. Any help would be appreciated

What better place to use a fish eye lens than underwater?

That does sound expensive and will cost you quite a few "fins."

It's a gorgeous lens. Under water video would look incredible.

Sorry. Shoud have mentioned that I have an Ikelite underwater housing for my D7200 which I use with my 105mm micro but I've found lots of situations where I really needed a fisheye. This photo was taken in Maui at a reef off the Maui Ocean Center about 30 ft down.

Under water photography seems to lend itself to video, so much wonderful stuff happening every second.

I have used the 10.5 but only on land, its a great lens and not overly expensive and its almost a point and shoot.

Since you're already set up for underwater, why not get a fish eye? Of course, you can use it on land, too.

Depending on what you are looking for this lens is very sharp. If you are not used to this type of lens it may be very helpful to rent first. Fisheye lenses are unlike anything else you would use and takes some practice to get good results. A lot of folks who buy this lens end up storing the lens cause they end up not using it much. This lens has specific uses and does not lend itself to general photography, used correctly it can produce unique perspectives.

I adore my fisheye! Mine is an 8mm Rokinon and it is the one lens I never leave home without.
