Noneed to comment on the quality (or lack thereof ) of the photo. I just need to know what kind of owl this is.
For some reason, I don't see a photograph. Cheers.

Kind of hard to comment on what type of owl it is when there isn't one to look at. I guess it is a Snowy Owl in a Blizzard eating marshmallows. ;-) Cheers.

Sorry about that. (Actually the first shot was the only photo ever made of the famous invisible owl) Here is the bird. I know the photo stinks. just curious as to what kindof owl (if it is an owl)

That is NOT an owl, its (likely) a red tailed hawk judging by the speckled pattern on his chest. You cannot see the face or beak as he is looking back over his left shoulder, and may even be grooming himself. He does appear puffed up against the cold.
Here is a current thread with some better shots of one:

Thanks. The reason that I thought it might be an owl is that is not really cold, about 50 degrees. As you can tell I don't know a lot about birds.
My first guess was a Red Tailed Hawk as well. They love to sit on the perimeter of my feeders!
BTW, the Audubon Sanctuary in Pomfret is great. I'm terrible at bird ID, but my wife is doing well!
