Lightroom slideshow

Hi all: I have Lightroom 6. All works well except for the slideshow feature. In that mode, the slides show up as the original pic, and then a second later, as the modified pic. It is annoying. Does anyone have this experience or a solution?

Welcome to our forum!

tv.adobe is very good for instructional videos. Unfortunately, a quick look found only LR CC videos, but LR6 should also be available.

My best slideshows have come after transferring the finished slides to another program. LR slideshows are clumsy to use at best.

I use Pro Show Gold for my shows. Only about $60. I export my files from Elements to a folder as JPEG's but it can handle PDS's and other file formats. It's very easy to learn, intuitive, and integrates soundtracks with lots of options to fine tune your music.

How did you set up your slideshow? From the LR Catalog? Try putting all the photos for a slideshow into a collection first, and see if that works.

Your description sounds like you may be getting the original and then the .xmp sidecar.

Doing a slide show is one of those things that the old Google program was REALLY good at. You could make a slide show, put it on a thumb drive or disc and play it on any computer! Now what was that program called????? That was the ONLY reason I actually used it for awhile.

Hi Gabe,

It is possible that the program is having to build the preview for that slide show as that is what happens when you see an image change as you view it on the screen. If you were to set a 1 to 1 preview option, let the program build that, and then run it you would be able to see if that is the problem. Our previews in LR are kept for as long as we set them to in preferences. You may be loading photos with an embedded preview or some other preview that does not work well in the slide show module. Using full size previews will take longer when you load initially, but should prevent this type of slide show behavior (I think). I have included two attachments, one for the preferences preview and one to show how to change the preview. I'm hoping what I'm talking about is the problem for you and this information might help you. Yes, there are many other slide show programs available (and I have tried them) but I continue to like the simplicity inherent in the LR slide show module and use it most often.

Yes! It created lovely slide shows. I understand it's still available if you know where to find it.
