If God suddenly decreed you could have one lens, and ONLY one (prime or zoom - doesn't matter) ... which lens would it be?

Just an afterthought ... if you don't believe in a higher being - it's no matter ... it's a hypothetical question, anyway ... just curious to see the answers ...

Satan would come along with a better offer and make you sign your soul over to him. If God decreed it I would also wonder why he would concern himself with something so petty in a world full of human problems.

My question would be: which god?

A fast 50mm lens that would work on the one and only camera He decreed I could use.

50mm f/1.8, because that's what I use most of the time anyway.

BTW ... to those who've chosen to reflect only on the "God" part of this ... I should remind you ... this is a Photography Discussion thread / Forum ....

While some will find that lens very useful, try using it to take low light images without a flash. Remember the second half of that phrase "Jack of all trades...master of none"!

We were given free will and shouldn't want, need, or expect a decree from on high regarding some material possession. If you're asking which of my lenses I would keep if I could only keep one, the answer would be my Canon EF 35mm f/2 IS USM.

Yeah, a nice choice, Mark ... I suspect for me ... it would be my EF-S 15-85 IS USM ...

Although, that f2 option of yours, makes a lotta sense ... perhaps, the Tamron SP 60 f2 Macro ....

At this point in my life, I would refuse to photograph under that restriction - that is why I went to SLR 38 years ago.
