Juvenile Eagle Can't Fish, So Goes Birding II

I was at the Conowingo dam in Maryland and taking a lot of pictures of Eagles fishing. I saw a Juvenile with what I thought was a fish and looking at it in the camera had trouble seeing what kind of fish. When I got home saw that it was a---------.

Still looks like a nice catch to me. Just maybe this bird was going after the same fish. Nice photo. Mahalo for sharing.

I understand that Eages will hunt what the parents do, fish or rodents. This guy has a new thing maybe, or his folks ate water fowl. Of course he will eat it !

From the looks of it his meal is still alive, head up. How is the parking there, did you have to ride a tour bus to the shooting location?

I have learned to get there around 5:30 a.m. to be sure of a good spot. The parking in lot "in season" will be pretty full by 6:30. Then you take a bus in. It can get crowed. See below.

My brother has given up shooting there because of the crowds. We have problems where I shoot eagles because so many people just stop their cars with flashers on and leave their cars on a two lane road. If someone gets killed I'm afraid that the location will be shut down for all of us. I see you even have fisher persons there too!
