Our Christmas Cactus is the most neglected plant in the house, but now blooming just in time for Christmas.

I have had one of these for 40 years and it blooms every year just on time. I have grown 4 cuttings from the parent plant and they all bloom at the same time. I have counted 40 blossoms on all of the plants so far this year. Sometimes they bloom twice a year well into January.

Hi silver,
I have no idea the age of this cactus, but my wife's mother had it for many years. We ended up with the cactus about 3 years ago; probably because no one else wanted it. It was always well cared for until this year when it was put in a window in the basement. It was pretty neglected; only getting watered whenever I remembered it. This is the first time it bloomed while it was our house.

Thank you for checking it out.

Hi Carol,
Thank you for your kind and very generous comments. This may be the only year it blooms, so I decided to shoot a few pics. I promise to take better care of the Christmas Cactus from here on.
Thank you so much.
Gary
Oh by the way, how is your knee doing?

Hi Charles,
Thank you for your comments. I really enjoy close-up photography; especially flowers. I had some shots with water droplets that I like a bit better, but not too realistic. Water droplets make everything look better.
Thank you so much.

Lovely photo. Maybe it appreciates being neglected!

Hi Katy,
I am pleased you like the cactus bloom. I don't think anything should be neglected, even the Christmas Cactus. This Spring I plan to re-pot it so it has better drainage, and then put it outside in the garden where it will be watered automatically every day. In the Fall, it can come inside and get ready for Christmas.
Thank you for your comment.
