Do you remember where you took those pictures? (Good website)

I wanted to share this website, it’s a hunting website, that I use to keep track of places I took pictures of and I can add notes and even upload a picture of the location. I’m in the New York’s Adirondacks often and I use this site to keep track of places I have been or identify places I want to return to.

You create a map or multiple maps, use the hunters “Trail Cam” as the location identifier and put Trail Cam icons everywhere you took pictures. I do it manually at home, but you can also use the smart phone app and mark your spot on site. Then I can add notes and can even upload a picture. Because it’s not a social media site, I have never received any junk emails or adds, and it allows me to share my site with others from the main screen. Basically, if you were coming to the Adirondacks in NY, I could share my site with you, which may help you research where you want to shoot.

I wonder how effective this would be in a more urban environment, like taking vacation pictures.

The map is similar to Google maps and it has street view, a satellite view, and other to include elevation. You can zoom in and out as far as you want and mark a spot. I don't see why it wouldn't help.

My notes probably work at least as well as this site.

I used to feel the same way; I kept a notebook and my GPS was full of places that I saved. I'm out often and after a while, it became increasingly difficult to track the different places I found and more so, wanted to return to. Notes are good, but after a while difficult to keep up with, the site gives a better overall picture.

It would be a duplicate effort for me. I take notes regarding exposure and processing anyway. Adding the location is a simple matter at the time of taking the photo. Adding that information to images ensures each will have the necessary information. Since I do this already, This would duplicate the amount of work.

I'm not saying it's a waste of time for all, just don't find it effective for me.

I understand from your description that it would be useful for some. But it also means yet another site to remember a password for and to log into.
For myself, I have a hiking GPS. I make sure that clock time on the camera and on the GPS are synchronized. When taking a photo, I also push the button on the GPS to set a waypoint. When home again, I only have to match the coordinates for a waypoint with the photo taken at the same time, then enter those coordinates in the Tags or Comments field of Windows File Explorer.
