I used to use, and still have, a Nikon EM with a Nikon Series E 50mm 1:1.8 lense and a Soligor C/D MC 80-200mm 1:4.5 055 (?). I also have a Vivitar Auto Thyristor 3700 Flash.
Are the lenses and/or the flash compatible with a Nikon - D3400 DSLR
Welcome to UHH foggypreacher, glad you joined us. I don't know the answer to your question. I would contact Nikon and ask them directly. One think about different flashes is the voltage. If they are not compatible with your camera the flash unit can damage it. Nikon USA would be your best source of information concerning your question.

Someone at the local camera store told me those series E lenses would work on manual mode with current Nikons. I have wondered, too as I have the Nikon EM also as well as the FE or FM (can't remember which as they have been in storage many years). I really need to get them out as I had a number of lenses (wide angle, telephoto + 2x teleconverter, and prime lenses). Used them when I was horse camping in the Rockies and Tetons, etc. Hope someone more knowledgeable then me will respond. If they would work, I might try them on one of my D5XXX series cameras.
Thank you for the greeting. Guess Nikon is the place to check.
Welcome to the forum.
The Vivitar 3700 has a reported trigger voltage between 8 and 10 volts. You need to see what the maximum trigger voltage is for the camera you want to use it on. (OLDer flashes have trigger voltages of 150+ volts, which will damage cameras that cannot handle voltages that high.)
If the voltages are incompatible, you can get a "safe-sync".
