Just bought a new camera and they sold me the Sony XQD G Series card very fast they said, however they forgot to mention that they and none Of the stores ive looked at, brick and morter, and online have the card reader. And no one seems to know when they will be available. Are these cards that new that no one has thought to create a reader for every card sold, as I imaginge everyone would like to see whats on their card. just venting and pissed because I can not view my photos taken with my new camera to see what they look like and how they compare to what I used to shoot and view.

What camera do you have? My D500 came with a cable to connect to my laptop to download photos. Cheaper than a card reader and right out of the box.

Hi,

I got my card reader from Amazon Prime in two days. Might see what they have.

Did not have a problem finding a car reader.

USB tethering works just as well, as mentioned by someone else.

What is the real issue here?

The G class has a faster write speed than the M class, but that has no effect on your ability to view files.

Consider yourself lucky. I'm luvin' the D850 but still waiting for the battery grip AND the class G XQD card AND the card reader.

I too have the D500 but when I plugged the camera in I saw nothing, I was used to seeing my mac recognize my sd card. But after looking at some articles online I found I had to go into my photos icon and there it was, it recognized and showed me the D500 icon. Live and learn, as I saw nothing about the transferring of photos in my owners manual. But then I just bought the camera on Friday and was more interested in shooting then reading.

The real issue is am ignorant about both the use of my new camera 2 days in my hand and my Imac a lot longer but was not all that good with my PC LOL. And I did not know how to upload my pictures to my computer, and was unable to view them as I am new with Mac computers and my camera D500 is just 2 days in my hand. And I read nothing in the users guide on how to upload and or view my photos, I am also not all that computer savey period. But I did learn to google things and found a link that had people talking about how to do what I was asking. and viola I opened my photo Icon there was my D5oo Icon and the rest is history.

I use XQD G series in my camera in one slot and an S series in the other. I first bought a Lexar card with their reader. It couldn't read my Sony cards. I decided to try my Sony readers and although it was a few years old, it could read anything I put in it, including the new G series and the only Lexar card I will ever buy!

Don't blame you. The readers are made by Sony: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1261721-REG/sony_qdg128e_j_128gb_xqd_g_e_memory_card.html. They are on backorder, For how long no one knows.

That’s ridiculous but because Sony puts their name on it they get to screw the customer for ten dollars worth of technology.
