My friend in our local professional photographer's club recently bought this lens from B&H, and took it out exactly ONCE before he fell and broke a wrist (not during a photo trip!) It is a very bad break, and will require several surgeries and lengthy rehab. He won't have good use of his right hand/arm for quite awhile.
He needs to sell this lens.
I will vouch for it - not a mark anywhere, glass perfect,, includes box, unused warranty, everything it came with.

Yes, but that is a gray market version.
This has a US serial number and warranty, so covered by the Nikon warranty.

Rab-Eye just posted something 10 minutes ago inquiring about any dealers having a sale on this lens. He might jump at this.

Just so you are aware, the lens warranty is NOT transferrable. It is valid to original purchaser only.

I’m sorry to hear that but very glad to know. I would have bought it in a minute, but with a non-transferable warranty, is the functional equivalent of gray market.

Not exactly. Nikon will still work on this one, just not for free as a warranty repair.

I see. Thank you for the clarification. Now I have a decision to make.

Its a great lens, and a fair price. I own one and its my favorite lens on my D500.
I always recommend avoiding grey market products at all cost.

I would never go grey market, and I know this is the lens I want. I don’t love not having a warranty, but as was pointed out, it’s not the same as grey as I first thought. (Edit: you were the one who corrected me!) I’ve contacted the seller. It’s worth serious consideration. How much is the warranty worth, considering that you probably won’t need it but if you do, not having it could be expensive? Do I feel lucky? 🤔
The deal is done, friends. Thank you for helping connect us.

I don’t know if it’s grey market but I know when I tried to buy from Abe’s they tried to pull a scam where they’re selling it stripped down. They send you an email to call and confirm the order and then they ask if you want the “retail version”. What’s that you ask? It has the two caps, the tripod collar and the case! Price...$1395. SCAM ARTISTS!!

Good for you Rab-Eye. Enjoy shooting with your new lens.
I bought a 80-400 4.5-5.6 vr from the club, last year. I have shot over 70,000 pics. with it and no issues. Good luck.
