Not sure if the first duck is a Mallard- doesn't quite fit.
Do not recognize third duck at all- have looked through my reference books and did not find a match.

These pictures are taken in Oregon in a slough- not at the ocean.

The two adult ducks were swimming around with about 5 of the chicks which also varied in appearance.

Check out the download.

Thanks.

According to Google, it's a beak.

That seems to be the weakest feature of Google. I have never gotten a correct answer.

Thanks for looking Jerry. I haven't had much luck with online ID.

That last one could be an American Coot. Per Ducks Unlimited. I'd page. I found a pair on the pond this weekend and I think it's the same bird. I do think that the first one is a youngish female Mallard.

I think the smaller ones look like Grebe.

No don't think so. American Coots are black with distinctive red eyes and white bills. Thanks though

Pied billed Grebe is the one with the striped face.
Most Coots are blackish with a white beak, but may
not look that way until fully mature. A lot of ducks are
hard to identify when they are in their first year!

Thats for sure! The brown larger duck has the shape of a coot but not the common coloring so immature coot might fit. Didnt realize an immature coot would change its eye color to red when mature! The duck in the 1st and 3rd pictures and the grebes were swimming around together so I made an (incorrect) assumption that they were a family. Thanks.

Oh and I thought I had an image of some type of exotic duck! A coot and not even a good looking one! Thanks all.

Check out what their feet look like! Half duck half chicken.
