I told Angela I would post some of these, were shot with a vintage MC Minolta 58mm f/1.4 mounted on a Sony A7rII full frame camera, I shot all shots @f/2 because her Helios 44-2 is a 58mm f/2.
It was overcast the day I shot these, but it don't matter to me weather it's rain, clouds, sun or snow, well maybe not the rain.
Give me a prime lens from 45-85mm and I'll have more fun than aloud to have.
You will enjoy them more if you use the downloads if you wish!!!!
Thanks for looking!!!!
Johnny
Nice set, Johnny. I really like the seed pods in 3 and 4.

Thanks Angela, this lens is a keeper for sure, it leaves a smoother bokeh than the Helios, but that's not a good or bad thing, the Helios leaves a little more grunge look that I like, Like the Helios this one will flair sometimes shooting into light. there's better coating on the Minolta MD models manual focus lenses but they didn't make one in 58mm.
I think I have 8 vintage Minolta prime lenses, I love them all except the 50mm macro, it's very sharp but the IQ sucks, just doesn't render colors right.
The two that really catch my eye are the leaf dangling by what appears to be spider silk (#2) and the bean shaped pods of #4. Wonderful examples of how often less is more. Delicate and very beautiful.

Even when using the lensbabies, if you hit the right light, the bokeh it creates is amazing!! I also have two old Ricoh lenses that came with the complete camera kit I bought at a garage sale for $25... I bought the adapter for the lenses, but there's this tab that sticks out and won't fit on my camera.... so I added the smallest extension tube to it and it works, but I have to get too close... I need to figure something else out, maybe see if I can snap it off, I really want to see what these lenses will do attached directly to the camera. But old glass produces such beautiful images and I love the manual focus!

I have never shot a Ricoh lens, but they got to be good, they were back in it's day, I do not like lensbaby at all, they all look like there out of focus.
I wish your camera had focus peaking, you would really love shooting manual then.

Linda thanks so much, I was surprised the silk showed up, that made my day, it was a little wind when I shot that, had a little problem with focus.
Beautiful shots, Johnny! Especially like the composition of #4!!

Lensbabies are an acquired taste and once you try one, you get hooked... I just love any of those creative lenses and the helios fits right in. Johnny... I have no idea what focus peaking is, even if my camera had it LOL... but I googled it and it doesn't!!

Johnny, nice set of pictures produced by you using the Minolta MC 58MM lens. Your Post is encouraging me to dust off my Minolta 58MM lens and give it a good test. Thanks for sharing.
