My First Use of Lightroom CC

Now that Adobe is offering Lightroom CC as well as Lightroom CC Classic, I thought I'd try out the new (to me) version. I have to say, I find it easy to use and the results are quite nice. I shot these three photos last evening while walking around, and did some post with the new Lightroom CC. It took very little time, and I think it actually reduced resource overhead. It took me only minutes to add some sparkle/pop. I like the results!

Thanks for the compliments! I'm a little surprised nobody asked about using the new Lightroom CC. Without going into great detail, I found it easier to use in some ways -- I didn't have to go through the import and cataloging process. Yes, I imported the photos, but once added (and LRCC syncs them to the cloud automatically), all of the editing tools were there, familiar and easy to use. Adobe hasn't changed the GUI too radically, so navigation was pretty obvious.

I have a ton to learn about pp but I love the new Lightroom cc on both my desktop and iPad. I’m sure I’m missing features but don’t know how to use them anyway. Don’t think I will ever open the classic version again.

I'm not going to say I won't ever use Lightroom CC Classic again, but there are some things about LRCC that I really like. For example, I can select only those photos I want to edit (LRCC gives me the option to preview them BEFORE I import them). I also don't have to use collections or the catalog, which I think is great for one-off photo edits. It retains the Classic modifier keys (hold down the Option/Alt key when sliding the black and white settings to see exactly where and when these areas will be blown out. It corrects barrel/lens distortion on my iPhone, which other software doesn't recognize. It creates and offers to store your exported photos in a folder designated for such a purpose. Presets are easy to use, and I like that merely hovering over the preset name provides a preview of the result.

I'm not quite sure I'm comfortable with the sync. Adobe grants a 20GB storage but I think that's kind of the "give away the razors and make them buy the blades" marketing scheme. It seems to want to sync everything to the cloud, and that could result in having to purchase more storage from Adobe. Soon.

All in all, I find the new Lightroom CC easy to use and quite intuitive (coming from me, that's a high compliment!). I may not give up the Classic version just yet, but with the photos I just posted, it was the first post-processing tool I thought of using.
