Just purchased a used Nikon D7100 from a relative. He charged me $200, and from reviews I read I feel that is a steal. The shutter count is at 25,270. I was honest with him and told him he should be asking a lot more than that but he insisted being family that was all he wanted. He justified it by saying he was getting nothing while it sat in his closet. The reviews on the camera were very good but I trust the opinion here so I was hoping to get some opinion from you fine folks. He also threw in Nikkor 50mm f/2.8 AF-S which I already have, and the camera has all the original packaging. This is a step up from my current D5100. Looking forward to getting out this week and taking it for a test run.

I had a d7100 for a few years. Traded it toward a d7200. Wish I kept the d7100. It is a fantastic camera. Should be able to pick up a decent nikon telephoto used at a good price. Enjoy.

You got a very good bargain on that camera. Some photographers have paid that much for a used Canon SX50 Bridge camera, that has less megapixels and a smaller sensor. As for the shutter count, that camera is good for at least 100,000 shutter clicks. You also got a 50mm lens added to it as well. Enjoy your camera. Family are good sometimes.

Your relative is a generous soul. The D7100 is a very nice camera, and there is plenty of useful help and suggestions on the internet. Also, some very good books out there will help you get the most from the abundant features of the camera. (Abebooks dot com is a great place to shop for discounted books)

I have a D7100 and most times I have a Nikon 18-200mm mounted on it. It's a hefty package, but works well for me.

Have some fun!

Yes, you got a good deal. Here's what they've sold for on ebay recently.

You will love this camera. Strongly suggest you get your relative a very nice gift for the holidays as he didn't sell, but rather gave you his camera.
Best of luck!

That never made sense to me. If I stole a car, I would drive it gently so as not to attract attention.
