Hi Folks,
I'm introducing myself after lurking here for awhile. I'm a retired engineer and have been involved in photography, only as a hobby, since the early 70's. I did take some college courses in photography back in the film days. I do remember the smell of processing chemicals on my fingers and the feel of hanging wet paper, but haven't touched the stuff since the advent of digital. I took a break from serious photography while focusing on family and career. Both have grown up now and doing just fine so now I'm back to playing with an old hobby. I have many interest in photography, but I find that I'm using photography as an excuse to travel. My wife and I do a lot of hiking so, as you can imagine, I shoot a lot of landscapes and wildlife along with a lot of personal snapshots. I've been reading this forum for awhile, sometimes with amusement, and have learned a lot from the many talented people that participate here. So rather than continue lurking, I've decided to join in some of the conversations.

Welcome. Can't wait to see what you like to shoot.
Welcome to this forum. I've only been here a week, and I have learned so much! One person told me about GIMP, a photo editor that is free. I really cannot afford PhotoShop or Lightroom right now. I've only been interested in photography recently. Most of my photos were to take pictures of my oil paintings and watercolors. All creativity in art was superceeded by a career in electronics.
Welcome to UHH Mike, glad you finally joined us. I also remember the film & chemical days!!
Have fun, learn and enjoy the forum.

Welcome! Ah yes, the smells, working in a red glow, and the feeling of rolling film in pitch blackness....those were the days ;)
