Take a look at this.
I'm sure a lot of you knew about it, but I sure didn't.

The photography is not necessarily illegal. Publishing/reproducing it for profit without permission may be. Every country/state has different laws. It gets complicated...

I thought the movie explained that.
Maybe I missed something.

No, I just didn't bother to spend the time to watch the video. I responded to the question encapsulated in the link. My bad.

However, it's a shameless promotion for Squarespace, which is probably in violation of UHH rules. Isn't there something that says we're not supposed to promote advertising or alternative websites? This is simply advertising disguised as an 'infomercial'.

Sorry...
I found it interesting and as it had something to do with photography I felt it was OK.
Really sorry for troubling you.

I did put it in "Upcoming Topics (from all sections)"
Not Photography.
I'll think again next time.

No worries, it is interesting, it was the bait and switch at the end.

Oh boy, took pictures of the Eifle Tower with my Nikon FE at night back in the day and with other digital Nikon’s. I better hide my pictures. LOL

Its the lights that are copyright protected. The weren't installed until 1985.

How does that work? You're on vacation in France, and take photos of the Eiffel Tower at night. You return home to the USA, and post pictures online. Do they extradite you back to France for a trial?

That's unlikely, but not impossible if you are making a profit from unauthorized reproduction of copyright work.

Think about all the legal hassles around the monkey selfie when an animal rights group sued the human photographer because the monkey pushed the button.
