One w/o the other is fairly useless - no?

I think it's just a challenge to produce glass (and throw own a challenge for the comp) to compliment the camera/sensor. After all, why not?

Is that 120 MP in FF or APS-H?

I believe Canon has a prototype 250MP sensor in the APS-H format.

Shudder to think what file size that would be. Files from the 5Ds tend to be around 70 MB. The 250MP sensor files would likely be 350MB??? Even at 6fps a 1 sec squeeze of the shutter would need 2GB of space. Ugh!

Jesu ... a 2TB HD seems to be the norm these days. Plus - 2-6TB back-up drives. SD Cards are getting bigger every day ... we've already reached a half TB ... so full TB cards can't be far behind ... nowadays, it seems folks are carting along 2TB HDs on the way thru the mountains and forests ... hope they cling on to 'em nice & tight!

And here I thought APS-H was dead a decade ago ....

Must have been just a breeze!!!!

Marion ...

If I had understood this comment when I first looked at it - you'd have had an answer, by now ...

But, try as I might ... I cannot make heads nor tails of it ... what am I not getting, here?

Necessity (being the mother of invention) for better glass, will have Canikon pulling out all the stops to be the first to sell you and I the latest super high resolving take it to the bank 10mm-2000mm f1.8 lens, weighing somewhere around 24 ounces, or less.
Thus, throwing down a challenge for Tamron to come out with something that puts Canikon in the stone age.

Didn't you ask a question like that recently?

Where did you get your information that a 120mp is on the horizon?

There is a You Tube video of the art photographer Ralph Gibson where he said to the effect, "Its all about resolution, what about content?."I'm paraphrasing a bit here.

In prototype form at least...this is a bit extreme but who knows maybe a 1Gig pixel medium format sensor is on the horizon in 5-10 years :0
