Howe do you control an RC plane that's traveling at 450 MPH? Take a look.

Imagine if that crashed. There would be more than slight damage. Although it's very fast, I would prefer flying a more conventional RC plane, so I could enjoy it.

Thanks Jerry for the link, however the fastest recorded RC sailplanes have hit 450mph and they ain't got engines....

After reading SR71's post I thought, wow, that seems a bit fast for a glider given that terminal velocity in air is - I understand - about 186mph, but to my amazement he's understating the case.

http://www.rc-airplane-world.com/dynamic-soaring.html shows a record-setting event in 2014 at 505mph. Didn't have time to see whether it is now higher. Just amazing!

What some people will do for fun. Sounds complicated.

With those reflexes he would have made one great boxer. A good trainer, some physical tune up and he would have been a bad guy to face in the ring. I don't know how he kept track of that plane. I have reflexes slower than mud so I can really appreciate his skill.

The sailplane dynamic soaring is now 519 mph. All that with a plane that weighs less than 10 pounds and no motor.

Jerry, I had a plane of similar configuration and size that was prop driven. It was silver (very hard to see in flight). One time at a local flying field, they were sponsoring a speed test. Mine was recorded at 226 mph. People asked me how I could see the thing let alone fly it and land it. It was simple; at this time I was quite a proficient RC aviator already and I knew instinctively where I had pointed it. It still was not very easy. Unfortunately, one August day, I managed to crash it straight into the Earth like a lawn dart. I had to go back home and grab a shovel and dig it out of the dirt. Total loss. The laws of physics reared their ugly heads on this one. I did a vertical nose dive with too much speed and simply overflew the parameters of the airfoils ability to function, therefore, I could not pull out of the dive. I miss that plane as well as a few others which I managed to stupidly crash.

This is not the 519 speed but 505. Take a look.

Thanks Alex, I haven't kept up with the top speed was only stating what I knew was the last recorded flight.
