If you read the TERMS AND CONDITION OF SALE, which most people never do, Nikon can cancel any order at their discretion, even if it has been shipped.

It's not just Nikon that have similar polices in place, go check out the polices of the A, B, C camera stores talked about on UHH.

I’ll say it one more time. A price, such as this for THAT camera, does not exist. It was a clear mistake on the part of Nikon, so trying to steal it at that price is clearly unethical and will not happen. As I said, the same thing happens with the Sony A7rII. Everyone received a full refund, no one was able to purchase the camera at a steal.

Thank you for the lecture - again - on ethics. I'll be sure to look you up next time I need moral guidance.

well for one if quite a few are pursuing a frivolous lawsuit which the op will lose anyway will drive the cost of these products up due to the expense of the high profile lawyers these companies use, and don't believe for a minute that they won't they will prove and drive their point home so that a precedent will not be made which will open up the path to more of these sort of suits. The op who has not checked in for a bit got the answer from Nikon and I still advise that it may well have been a spoof site that is getting ready to scam holiday buyers if it is Nikon someone please post a link to articles on this as there probably are many complainers some of whom may be a blogger, writer, etc..., or they really had only a couple which if at that price the camera most likely had a huge amount of shutter actuations on it an possibly cosmetic or other problems. Seems to me that the binding part is on Nikon's terms they openly state that they need to accept the transaction and have the right to refuse service if they please.

No need to do that, if you know what empathy means, try to understand it and put yourself in the sellers shoe.

$1999 vs $1099 -clearly an error, Nikon is not going to sell at wholesale or below wholesale to customers.

I think you are correct, once about 10 years ago I won a bid on ebay for a 1 year old VW it was in Kansas and I was in California I called them to find out exactly where and when I could fly out and pick it up they said it was sold and they would not honor the bid which was for $950. I argued and talked with a lawyer who basically said if it was to good to be true it certainly was so I dropped it as I couldn't afford nor did I wish to get deep into a tiff which I was sure I would lose just to prove a point. The same goes here a mistake was made and not fixed fast enough mistakes happen its part of life. The OP and any others this may have happened to need to store this knowledge away and move on.

Interesting discussion here. As a former Nikon rep I highly doubt Nikon sent him the camera for the price HE CLAIMS THEY ADVERTISED IT FOR. Nikon would not have done that. Companies I represented could cancel any purchase they wanted AS LONG AS THEY REIMBURSED THE BUYER. Which is exactly what I am sure Nikon did. Look, this guy is sour because he knew Nikon made a mistake and he tried to take advantage. I am sure he knew no one sells a refurb D810 for that price, NO ONE. So he jumped on it, knowing deep down it was a mistake. When Nikon caught it, he got mad cause he couldn't get it for a ridiculously low price that HE KNEW WAS INCORRECT. He is just upset he couldn't get it. SO, HE TOOK IT OUT ON THEM THROUGH THIS SITE.
Yes, Nikon made a mistake listing that camera for the price, IT WAS A MISTAKE. How many folks on this site would sell there $10,000.00 car for misprinted newspaper price of $1000.00. Answer, NO ONE. The OP was mad cause he couldn't take advantage of an honest company, shame on him and shame on anyone who supports him.

The amount of money involved here is far, far below the threshold that would be required for any lawyer to get involved and for you to pay attorney's fees.

I'm not so sure he knew it was a typo. I bought my (refurb) SX50 for $245.00 and I thought it was way to good to be true. I received it in about a week.

In Elko, I was bidding on a beautiful .300 Weatherby (listed at $2000) and was up to $3500 before the owner rushed up to the auctioneer for a "chat." It turned out that the rifle was a custom piece with a stainless barrel, master tuned action and hand carving and had originally cost $16K. The program was misprinted and should have had a minimum bid of $12K. Since bidding was still in progress, the auction continued, but when the bidding topped out at <$9K, the item was declared a "no sale" and was withdrawn. The high bidder protested, but the auction manager pointed out a notice that said mistakes in the program were not the fault of the seller and the original contract must be honored.

I bet you $100 that the OP knew that that was a steal of a price. Come on now! Who are you kidding?
