I posted Take 1, 2 and 3 a while back and now I'm able to get images I like as long as the moon and clouds are not in the way. About 100 30 sec shots combined in to one. We don't live in a super dark place, so don't let that keep you from trying to shoot stars. I used a 10mm 2.8 lens on a Nikon D7000. I use a Linux system and my two programs for this were Darktable for the RAW image and GIMP for the stacking, shading and straightening. I created a mask for the final imageto keep the house dark, but just a bit of green for the trees. I straightened the house a bit so it wouldn't look like it was leaning backward. Thanks for all your help!

Looks Good, Kervin!
It's nice to see the progress.

Keep workin it as you can.
Watch out for the slippery slope. StarTrails is what led to my demise.
One night I started wondering about the Orion Nebula, and woosh, away I went down the slippery slope....

Posted image and Take 3 look great!

In looking at the download I have to assume you live close to an airport? Lots of 'other than star' action!

That's funny! It would be nice to have a 600mm lens.......

Thanks! The airport is about 15 miles away, so I'll always have planes in my images.

Well, a wide angle was better for me when doing Star Trails captures.
I wasn't satisfied with my telephoto lens, it works great for kids and soccer fields, but not for space.
So I grabbed on to a telescopic lens telescopic thingie. And astronomy cameras...
And that were that slippery slope gets you.
Oh dear, Oh my.

But you are doing good, and having fun! Keep at it.
(Ever played with time lapse? Heh, heh, heh... )
