I have $500. put away towards an 850 but having an 810 do I really need the 850? I'm thinking about taking the advise given here at UHH for years and years. Get a better lens. So maybe I will. I'm loving the sigma art lenses.

Take a look at all of your favorite images and see what focal lengths best suite your needs. Then get the best prime lenses you can afford at those focal length.

You will get more bang for your buck with one or two prime lenses on your D810 than you could ever get with a mediocre zoom lens on a D850. The will each be sharper, lighter, with less distortion and have wider maximum apertures than any zoom.

Sounds like a good decision. I don't know how many people in this forum know of Bryan Peterson. He is a professional photographer. Prolific author. Has a variety of business concerns in the photography environment. I'm sure his knowledge pales in comparison to some in this forum. I am currently reading his book; Understanding Exposure, Fourth edition. On the front cover, he clearly states; How to Shoot Great Photographs with Any Camera. The word....Any.. says a lot. I think you made the right decision.

The 850 is no doubt a wonderful tool to use, but I'm told that 100 is not a "perfect" score since the ratings are not measured out of 100. In time, other cameras will score over 100, however, Nikon has hit this one to the fence with the highest score awarded yet, providing you are not looking for extreme ISO capabilities where it falls short of "lesser" cameras.

In fact, DxOMark has been completely ignoring the 101 previously scored by the Pentax 645Z MF.
