Here is mine. While vacationing last year, in Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia, I was taking shots from the Government Wharf. The passenger in a beat up pickup truck leaned out his window and yells, "Hey buddy, how many watts is your lens?" With a straight face, I told him it was a Nikon 200-400 watts. B^)

I thought it was hilarious. It was a Kodak moment.

I was laying on the ground out on a back road in the hills west of Asheville, NC (wearing my BIG PRINT PhotoKurtz logo t-shirt) on a Sunday morning taking ground level pics across of a ricketty bridge, driveway and abandoned house. A lady in a Caddy pulled up behind me and asked, "Are you a photographer?"

I posted a photo from my cell phone onto facebook and someone replied, "I wish I could afford a camera like that."

Oops... that wasn't a question...

I didn't want to get smacked so I just said yes... I felt like saying, "Here's your sign."

She gave me $75 to take pics of her barn which was about one mile away.

I wonder if he was serious.

I once got that classic comment, "You must have an expensive camera."

One more. I would show some of my shots on my phone, like most people do. The question would be, "Did you take those shots with your phone? I always say, "No, I would sell all my camera equipment, if I could get the same results."

I am sad to say that he was serious. If he wasn't, then there was no point me starting this topic. B^)

Some time ago, when I was taking pictures at a state park, the docent asked my wife "Who is he with??"
{I had an SLR and was taking notes in the small notebook I always have with me}

I was taking photos at the the Virginia House in Richmond, VA. I was in the garden area behind the house. The office manager came out and was angry with me. She thought, since I was using a tripod, that I was a professional photographer and would be using the photos to put together a calendar. I had to convince her that I was not a professional photographer and I was only taking the photos to show at my camera club. She finally went back into the office. Here is a photo I took there.

I was up in the mountains shooting the Milky Way and Perseid Meteor showers. A young lady probably in her early 20's approached me asking if I could Instagram her the pictures I took. I laughed and told her I don't do Instagram. Instead, I got her email address and sent her a link when I posted a couple of shots on Flickr. My friend who was with me thought is was funny thinking "old guys like us on Instagram?" I guess I need to get with the times. It took me long enough to give into texting. I do Facebook occasionally, but refuse to put that app on my phone.

I had a similar circumstance, near Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia. An elderly man rushed out of his house and asked me what I was doing? I told him that I was from British Columbia and I was taking pictures with my camera! He was satisfied with my answer and went back inside. People are funny but I'm starting to like animals more and more, as I get older. B^)
