Small wedding along the ragged Central Coastline ...

Sunset wasn't the greatest with some textured clouds but I made it work ...

Bride wanted a few sparkler shots ...

Only 24 guest so the parents stood next to their kids as they got married ...

entire wedding party making hearts
entire wedding party making hearts...

Love the parents facial expressions

Something different, the parents standing next to the couple as they get married

Love the sparkler shots. The few times I've tried it, HUGE bust. Different people did different size letters, or they didn't even look like letters. Even have had a few where no amount of coaching can get them to not do them backwards.

I would try the hearts again. Kind of hard to screw those up, but I'm sure some would try.

Thanks for sharing. One of my future goals is to have these come out well without photoshop fakery or compositing. (You can download "sparkler brushes" online, and get "kind of" close, but nothing's like the real thing.

My first try at back light of this kind ... I had the B&G inside a 'tunnel' made of tree branches.

Yes I used a bit of PS ... feel free to express your critique on THIS photo ;)

I've been doing at least one of these for each wedding this year, always trying to make it a little better each time. This is really great. Not a CC, but if you want to add some drama, gel the back light, and you can get some beautiful effects.

It's great like it is, I just like messing around with trying to come up with things that are different... sometimes they work, often times, they get deleted and never see the light of day.

(by the way, without fail this year, the backlit shot ended up being either the cover photo for their albums, or the one they chose for their large canvas print)

That's something that "uncle Bob" (yuck) can't pull off... and they love it.

Thanks.... by the way, to hold them on, instead of messing with the Velcro thingy that never works, I now use one of those rubber bracelets like what they had for Cancer awareness. (except mine is camo and says "IMMAT", which is something a British friend of mine made for a few of us. Stands for "It makes my ass tired" It was a saying her family used when they didn't want to talk about a subject any more.

They fit perfectly around the flash head, and I never have to take them off. Just slide the filter tabs under the rubber bracelet, and it is secure. I used everything from tape, to Velcro to rubber bands, the bracelet thing is the bomb.
