Hi: I'm an old-timer... seen a lot of changes

My father was a portrait photographer for a studio. I helped him in his home darkroom, and i developed and printed my own negatives when I was four years old (1938). I’ve seen a lot of changes over the years.
Before I went to kindergarten I was using a black Kodak Brownie box camera with a lens, two viewing sites (one for horizontal and one for vertical orientation), a film winding nob, and two levers (one to choose one of two f/stops, and one to choose one of two shutter speeds). The meniscus lens was permanently focused at the hyperfocal distance of the f/stop - about 8’ to infinity. There was a red-filtered hole on the side of the camera which showed which frame number was ready for exposure. I had to load the film in the camera using a very dark room or a photographic black-bag.
Since then I have had several used cameras, each of which added at least one new feature. I bought my first new camera in 1959, a SLR.
My current top camera has a 36.8 megapixel sensor,27 buttons, mic, speaker, 4 levers, 3 dials, 7/8” thick manual, ISO range 100-6400 normal extending to 25,600 with exposure compensation, 4 custom settings with combinations of 54 items, 4 file formats, 2 card slots, still and 2 video formats, … A recent independent feature film was shot entirely with this camera.
My small-size camera has a 20 megapixel sensor, 3 video modes, and a lot of the above features, and costs less than some smartphones.

Wasn't born until 1943, so still a "youngster" at 74. Won a local (Baton Rouge) department store Mother's day contest using a Kodak brownie at 6 yrs old, hooking me into photography. A couple of years out of college wound up with a side line business doing weddings, arial photograph (from my Aronica Champ) and restoration of old photos. Had a wide range of cameras from 35mm all the way up to 8X10 studio and a full dark room. Lost all in a flood in the Houston area in the late 70s. Just now getting back into the "serious amateur mode with digital, mostly air shows and grandkids (11 and 2 great). Even as an electrical engineer and computer savvy, am amazed at the capabilities of digital cameras. Currently have a Nikon D750 with several lenses and just ordered a backup D7500 with a 100-400 FX lens to give me extra reach in a light package for air show fun. Hope I get to go on as long as you have!
PAR4DCR, nice emoji. My Great Grandfather had two stern wheel paddle boats he ran between New Orleans and Thibodaux on Bayou Lafourche when it was open to the river. Gave me a love of being on the water. That's me an one grandson on a Bayou Lafourche 4 day paddle trip

Welcome to The UHH! Quite a photographic journey you have experienced. I started with my mother's Autographic Kodak bellows camera that used 116 film, then a Baby Brownie so film was more affordable. I am three years younger than you and never worked professionally until I retired from my Electrical Engineering career in 1989. Great fun! They'll have the camera from my fingers to bury me!

That is the Natchez. Makes about 2 - 3 hours trips on the Mississippi. My great grandfather and grandmother lived in Thibodaux. My great grandfather dies one month before his 100th birthday!!
