I am very excited about the iPhone X - I waited to trade in 6 Plus and happy I did. I am always up for a newer better camera in my phone. Happy with all my Apple products.

I would have liked to have been able to order the iPhone X at 12:01AM PST, but at that time I'll be with a tour group in Luxor, Egypt (3PM, EET) without a SIM card, so I'll miss out and have to probably wait months to get my phone.

Having used pc’s since the days of ms dos, and having gone through all the Windows permutations, I switched over to Apple products about four years ago. For myself, I never looked back or regretted it. As a full time pastor I use an iMac, a MacBook Pro, my iPad and my iPhone 7 Plus on a daily basis. They all are extremely useful to me for my ministry.

The camera on my iPhone 7 Plus will never replace my Nikon D750, not only for the pictures it produces, but also for the great pleasure I get from shooting with it. However, the convenience of having a decent camera in my pocket at all times has come in handy on many occasions.

But do you have a direct line to God, or is it just a 1 900 number? Does FaceTime work?

Apologies for any potential offense to people of a religious disposition!

No 900 number. Only direct line is through prayer. As to the irreverent clip, there is often more truth in jest than we might like to admit.

You sound like a fanboy.
The fact is that the IPhone X is a Samsung knock off of the S8+.
Jeesh Samsung makes half of the stuff in the iphone.
Apple is a ship coasting along on past inertia.
Todays smart phone is no longer a music player that can make phone calls as Jobs saw it.
The walled garden with the outdated ITunes is unnecessary.
I would think with all the Billions of dollars they are hoarding that Cook would have got into the OLED screen manufacturing years ago.
No allowing micro sd cards is a insult to there isheep customers.

You do realize (or maybe not) that if you don’t tap “quote reply” no one has a clue as to whom your comments refer to, since there have been several favorable posts regarding Apple products in general and IPhone in particular.

You mentioned Samsung. Wasn’t it Samsung that made famous the smoking phone? 😏

Apple today introduced its third generation Watch, a new Apple TV 4K, iPhone 8, and iPhone X (pronounced ten).

The amount of change they have revealed in just one year is mind boggling. I won't talk about it here... Their web site has all the details.

The new iPhone cameras are scary good. You have to see the demo to understand why.

And turning your face into an animated emoji (animoji) that talks in your own voice with YOUR expressions? Priceless... You can even turn your face into an animated pile of poo! (as Craig Federighi demonstrated live)

I'm as stunned today as I was in January, 2007, watching Steve Jobs reveal the first iPhone.

The Apple naysayers will now come out from under the bridge. But do yourselves a favor, naysayers, and go to the web site and watch the demos and films.

This was directed to all the fanboys like you. LOL
At least Samsung admitted to the battery problem and refunded all the monies to all customers.
Apple also has had Iphone fires but Apple never admits anything and the Gubment is in there back pocket.
Unlike Antenna Gate where Jobs was not man enough to admit the problem and said customers were holding the phone wrong.

No doubt, both the iPhone X and the Samsung S8 and Note 8 (as well as lesser known newcomers like Essential which will DEFINITELY be worth watching) will be great tools.

The real question is whether one wants to live inside or outside Apple's walled garden.

Not much different to the choice between Macs and PCs in the final analysis - no right or wrong choice, just what works to suit your needs, and how much you want to spend.

Always best you know what you need and/or want, and why, before putting the money down

More 2¢...

Two posts in a day. Who knew?

Thank you for taking it in good spirit. It was intended well. Thought is an important part of spirituality, even for atheists such as myself! Perhaps I'm only an orthodox agnostic.

Like Nikon, Apple makes products that I like and work for me. Neither company is perfect, but then name one that is.

It's true, iPhones are amazing devices. What I don't care for is that the advances in mobile devices seem to come at the expense of computers. I understand that mobile devices are where the money is so that's where the focus is, but Apple built it's reputation on computers and it seems a shame to me that Apple has put them on the bottom shelf.
For me, I don't need all the things that smartphones offer. They have functions and apps that are convenient, but not necessary. The "phones" keep getting larger and more expensive and a new one comes out every year and (to me) that smells of planned obsolescence.
I had an iPhone 5, then an iPhone 6, but I don't really need anything more from a phone than a phone. I wonder if the popularity of getting a new smartphone every year is a form of mass hysteria.
Any way, I switched to a LG Revere flip phone and don't feel that I'm missing anything. That's just me, to each his own.

As a photographer, I use smartphones for several critical functions:

1. Live view remote control.

2. Photography related applications, especially for sunrise/sunset landscapes and astrophotography.

3. Photography examples.

I use larger devices for visibility (my eyes aren't what they used to be, nor are other people that I show my photos to).

Plus, the calendar keeps me synced up with where I need to be, and the GPS helps me get there (as does the GPS in my car).

And the alarm clock makes sure I get up at 3am to get out for late night/early morning shoots.

Without the smartphone, it would be a lot more work to do what I do, and I would probably do a lot less because of it.

And the crazy prices of these smartphones might be good news for camera manufacturers by reviving sales of small decent point and shoot models. Took this shot last week with a 7 year old Canon sx130 point and shoot. A dinosaur by today's standards, but how many smartphones will top the color and detail I got?

Nice, but the iPhone 7 is no slouch. The first two were made in horrible restaurant lighting. The beach scene was a quick grab. View in download for best rendition.

So the smartphone as expensive as it is you can't talk to God with it huh? Lousy phone for $1000.
